A song written from the heart of a mother, in hopes to protect our children while also needing to let them go, and my lifelong admiration for trees and their enduring patience and spirit. Written with the affects of 9/11 in my mind, and what I did that day while my children were in kindergarten. I went to the woods, laid on the forest floor amidst the calming energy of the trees, and contemplated our world and raising children in it.

Lyrics

When I die I want to fly
Around the world just one more time
Sing my song and I'll be fine.
Come with me and sing along
And we will sing our happy song
As if nothing in life will ever go wrong.

Trees Standing Still
Do what you will
I drift away, come and see me someday

Hurry on it won't be long
Before the sun cracks the dawn
Our fire will go out and we'll be gone
I sew the wings upon my heart
I have given you a start
and now it's me who travels along with your song

Trees Standing Still
Do what you will
I drift away, come and see me some day

River pushes over stones
We are not alone in our journey home
I can see it in your eyes
The sparkle in the sky
And it leaves me completely high.

Trees Standing Still
Do what you will
I drift away, come and see me someday.
